The 591-Horsepower Executive Lounge: Audi SQ9

If you've spent years believing that driving a full-size, three-row luxury SUV means sacrificing raw performance, Audi has other plans for you.

Arriving in late 2026, the first-ever Audi SQ9 steps in as the brand's ultimate performance flagship. It is a genuine 591-horsepower beast engineered for drivers who need executive-level room without giving up a single drop of driving excitement.

And Audi has finally revealed ALL of the fine details so let’s get to some of the standout features below!

• Priorities Straight: The redesigned center console features two oversized cupholders specifically engineered for legally-distinct Pink tumbler cups. (We see you, Stanley.)

• Hands-Free Highway Driving: Level 2+ Partial Automated driving will allow Hands-Free highway cruising on approved highway routes up to 85 MPH.

• Immersive 4D Audio: The available Bang & Olufsen sound system integrates personal headrest speakers and seat-mounted bass actuators so you physically feel the beat.

• Executive Seating: Choose between a practical 7-seater layout or opt into 2nd row Captain’s chairs with 5-zone climate control and that massive panoramic sunroof made of Polymer Dispersed Liquid Crystal (PDLC).

Alright, let’s talk POWER because the SQ9 is no slouch.

Under the hood sits a heavily revised 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 pushing a monstrous 591 horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque. If that engine architecture sounds familiar, it’s because variations of this powerplant have motivated heavy hitters like the Porsche Panamera and Lamborghini Urus. (all owned by same parent company)

In the SQ9, it delivers the best of both worlds: genuine heavy-duty capability with a 7,700-pound towing capacity, and a mind-bending, best-in-class 0 to 60 mph sprint in just 3.8 seconds. In a three-row family SUV!

Wait… do the Audi SQ9 and the upcoming Nuvolari have the same engine?

Great question, astute reader! On paper, both spec sheets list a "4.0-liter twin-turbo V8," but that’s where the similarities end.

While the 2027 Audi SQ9’s V8 is tuned for effortless torque, luxury refinement, and high-speed highway cruising, the engine in the 2027 Audi Nuvolari is an entirely different beast.

Sourced directly from Audi’s Formula 1 engineering, the Nuvolari's bespoke V8 screams all the way to 10,000 RPM, producing 800 hp on its own and a total of 1,001 horsepower when combined with its three electric motors.

2027 Audi Nuvolari debuts at Monterey Car Week

Every August, the automotive world descends on the California coast for Monterey Car week. This is THE premier gathering of historic cars and multi-million dollar exotics.

But this year, all eyes were locked squarely on what Ingolstadt’s finest brought in. That’s Audi, for whoever was wondering.

Making its official North American debut, the 2027 Audi Nuvolari gave collectors and enthusiasts an up-close look at the most powerful and technologically-advanced production road car Audi has ever built.

Here’s what made the Nuvolari the undisputed star of Car Week:

• Pure Formula 1 DNA: Developed alongside Audi’s F1 program, the Nuvolari offers 1,001 horsepower and a top speed of about 217 MPH.

• Hypercar Craftmanship: Built around an all-new Audi Space Frame wrapped in a full exposed-carbon fiber body, it features active aero (dang that DOES sound like F1) and quattro predictive ride suspension.

• Ultra-Exclusive Status: Only 499 units will be produced globally, instantly cementing the Nuvolari as a crown jewel for Audi collectors.
